The KC7000SS is the newest and grandest kegerator from Edgestar yet. This model is gorgeous with stainless steel all over. You can tell the company was striving for a top of the line kegerator when they designed it. A myriad of features not found in lower priced units were included. The tower is air cooled to prevent beer spoilage in the tower. Automatic defrost is one of the nicest additions. Capacity is also the best you will find in a tradition kegerator.
Appearance
The full stainless appearance of the KC7000 makes it instantly stand out as a quality machine. The side railing is of a far more durable nature than you find in lower priced units. Even the red casters are better quality. Inside the kegerator LED lighting has been added to give it a unique appearance. Even the door is reversible to help with left-handed owners.
Capacity
Capacity is a big selling point of the KC7000SS. It can fit 3 corny kegs or 3 sixth barrel kegs. All full-sized kegs, including over-sized kegs from companies, like Miller Coors, fit in this model kegerator. The capacity is so large that the C02 tank is designed to be stored inside the main fridge. Storing the C02 tanks inside the unit allows for better pours and smoother all around operation.
Dimensions
External without Tower: 34.375 inches tall, 23.8125 inches wide, and 25.375 inches deep
Weighs: 115 pounds (this is a huge indicator of how solidly built this model is. 115 pounds is about 35 pounds heavier than the typical kegerator)
Equipment
The KC7000SS ships with a top of the line regulator and Luxor 5 pound C02 tank. The tower, drip tray, casters, and railing are all a step up from what you will find in cheaper kegerators. A specialized wrench for tightening the beer tower is also included.
Assembly
The manual to assemble the KC7000SS is well written by native English speakers. Most websites will tell you assembly takes 1 hour. If you aren’t used to such tasks, go ahead and set aside a 3 hour block. If you have trouble understanding the manual, look at Youtube videos for assembly of other kegerators. The process is similar for most models. The biggest trick is making sure all your lines are snug. You don’t want to leak all your C02 or worse yet, leak precious beer.
Warranty
The warranty is better for the KC7000SS than with all other Edgestar models. A full 1 year warranty with in-home service is provided. We still wish Edgestar would offer a full 60 month warranty on the compressor, like that offered by some competing brands. That said, reports of the reliability of this model are stellar. It is highly unlikely that the warranty is going to come into play. Build quality is commercial grade.
Customer Support
Edgestar customer support is accessible M-F from 8 am to 5 pm Central Standard Time. If you need assistance call: 866-319-5473
Many reviews of Edgestar products cite receiving argumentative representatives on the phone. Stay calm and explain the resolution you want. Avoid situations where they can claim you made a mistake because they will try to hit you with return shipping costs and a 15% restocking fee.
Company Background
Edgestar and Kegerator.com have the same parent company named Living Direct. They are located in Austin, Texas. The company has been in business since 1999. The Better Business Bureau gives the company an A rating. There are been forty four complaints over the last twelve months.
Price
I am not going to lie. The price of the KC7000SS is steep for most people. The base model starts at $1449 shipped. This is almost 3x the cost of a KC2000. It is a heck of a nice kegerator, but we believe $1100 or even $1200 is a more reasonable price point.
Summary
The KC7000SS is a heck of a nice kegerator. The components are more durable than those found in any other Edgestar models. The full 1 year in-home warranty shows that the company is willing to stand behind this product. Reviews from across the Web have been stellar. The sticking point for most people is going to be price. At almost $1500 shipped, this model is going to be out of reach for most budgets. If you can afford it, you are going to be pleased with your decision. If you can’t afford this model, I recommend looking at the KC3000.
